Wait hang on, what do you mean? Is there some way I can make it easier to subscribe? Like do you think the issue is the way I have it set up or something I can't control?
I think it is something you can’t control, though not 100% sure. When I clicked on the subscribe link it told me it was not possible to do it through the app. My guess is that it’s because Apple take a 30% cut of payments, and Substack want to avoid that.
It should be possible to do it through a browser on an iPad, but that can be fiddly if you have the app installed as well. In the end, I did it at a computer, which was a bit of a hassle as I don’t usually use Substack there.
I read this and immediately hit the subscribe button, only to realize I'm already a subscriber! Ha! Your newsletter is so useful! As a researcher who reads a lot of journal articles, I appreciate the effort that goes into breaking them down into a cogent form.
I’m lyman stone and I approve this upgrading of a hobby into a remunerative activity which supports your life and family.
I hope it worked- just clicked paid membership!
The iOS Substack app really does make it a pain to take out a subscription, but I got there eventually. Probably Apple’s fault.
I’m on tenterhooks waiting to hear whether you get enough subscriptions to make Family Stuff sustainable – I will really miss it if not…

If this does become a hobby, at least you will be in good company (me, the person with a substack called “It’s a Hobby”)
Upgraded - I have no doubt it's worth it!
Thank you!!

Thank you, Darby!!
